District 7
Division 12

VICE CAPTAIN'S
WELCOME

As Vice Captain of Division 12, my job is to supervise
a team of volunteer officers that can and do support three important
cornerstones of our local mission:
-
Promote and
improve South Carolina’s
Recreational Boating Safety (RBS).
-
Facilitate the
Coast Guard’s security outreach program to the public known as America’s
Waterway Watch.
-
Augment Sector Charleston’s Logistic, Prevention, and Response
programs in a variety of ways.
In 2007, Division 12’s
proud Auxiliary volunteers accomplished a remarkable record that included:
-
Contributing over 41,000 hours of their time to aid the programs
outlined above, as well as others.
-
Invested over
5,000 hours patrolling South Carolina’s
coastal and inland waters on our privately owned vessels, in our effort to
assist Sector Charleston’s Response effort.
This resulted in lives and
property saved .
-
Aided Sector Charleston’s Prevention efforts with over 1200 hours of
our time.
-
Logged over 900 hours in classrooms around the state, furthering our
various educational programs.
-
Conducted nearly 800 voluntary Vessel Safety Checks. This program
has the expressed purpose of making our local boating experience a safer one
for you and your family.
There’s more that could be said, but our record is one of service to the public
and the United States
Coast Guard.
We are constantly looking for
volunteers to help us in these efforts. Might that next volunteer be you?
Check the links for additional
information, and I look forward to meeting you soon.
